Message: mktime(): It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'America/New_York' for 'EDT/-4.0/DST' instead

Steve Price's 40 monitor computer setup for intraday trading and development. Believe it or not, it was originally intended to have 60 monitors.

About the Setup This isn’t the first time we’ve featured one of Steve Price’s home office setups on Desktopped. His original setup had nine monitors and has obviously grown a bit since then. This setup has 40 monitors running on 6 machines. No, you didn’t just misread that.

Believe it or not, it was originally planned to have 60 monitors with a mix of 19″ and 24″. As it ended up, all 40 monitors you see are 24″. The six computers all have core i7 975s with 24GB RAM, two SLC SSDs in raid 0, and several Nvidia NVS 420s and Nvidia 9800 GTs.

  • 40 monitors used for stock trading? What a waste! I’d start with 360 degree Google Earth and work my way up to 360 degree Crysis.

    Something like this? http://bit.ly/asazva

  • this is stupid. especially if the guy uses 4 monitors for one chart. total waste. my screens have at least 2 charts each + indicators, but most have 4 charts each

  • well … if he has the money why not …. ?

    I completely agree :)

  • Why not? I love it and you have a good taste in beer.

  • Nice Computer and more say for all !…!

  • LOL.. you must be kidding.. 40 Computers for a pair of eyes and a brain(less)??? Either the person is wasting the resources or confusing himself.. Maximum 9 monitors are ok.. not just for charts.. News feeds, Television, 3 for Charts, Ticker panels, Terminal, Personal browsing, IM and mails.. More monitors doesnt mean more profits.. it means more complications.. a single person cant handle it.. If I see the person, I would gift him with Sunscreen Lotion SPF80/P++++.. LOL..

    • All one needs is 2 monitors. One for the charts and one for the orders :) .

  • This such an exaggerated setup. It looks so DIY. The cabling looks like a nightmare. It looks like a messy IT office. The owner could have at least paid professionals to outfit his office. Maybe its just me, but I would not like to spend an hour in that room. Its very messy, cluttered, and dusty.
