About the Setup
This setup has made the rounds on the internet, but it’s worth a repost and another look. The guys over at plastk.net put together a 24 monitor setup with a total 10240×3072 resolution at 15-30 FPS. The purpose? Quake III of course.

The system is power by 12 linux servers using DMX and Chromium. Chromium distributes the OpenGL rendering from the head node to all of the servers.

If you think this is impressive, hold on to your hat, because now they’re shooting for 50 monitors.

About the Owner
This monstrosity was conceived and built by Andrew Sabri of plastk.net. He’s a developer who has worked for EA Sports on their Madden NFL product line and is currently working on Madden NFL 2010.
