About the Mod
Cases aren’t the only ways to mod the external look of a computer system. Unless you consider this entire desk one massive case mod. This is our first of many featured desk mods where we highlight someone who has built their computing experience right into their desk.

The modder, Pyro, built his Lian Li PC-A09B Computer PC Case into his desk, adding features such as a built in headphone stand with on/off and jacks, an in-desk DVD burner, a quick connect HDD system, an in-desk USB hub, and a beautiful Raptor lighting system.

Some of the computer hardware specs include an AMD Phenom 9600 Black Ed, 4GB RAM, XFX GeForce 9800GTX video card, Logitech Z-4 2.1 speakers, and much more.

A full list of parts can be found here and the entire work log can be found here.

Desk mods are cool, but I always wonder how easy it is to take it apart if you were gonna upgrade components or move to a new house or something. I wouldn’t want to move the desk too much otherwise.

@nick Good points. In this case, though, the main parts look accessible enough. Maybe you don’t commit to this type of project if you’re still intending to move around a lot. I think there’s also a lot to be said for how much something like this simplifies things and creates a really minimalistic and clean workspace.

@Brian I hear ya on minimalistic and clean, although my gf would just cover all that extra space with papers and tissues and… stuff. If we’re just going for minimalistic and clean tho, a computer in a whiskey bottle can be just as effective and more suitable to my occupational requirements. ;)

Someday i’ll graduate and stop moving every year – I admit then I’d love this sort of setup.
